About the teacher
Robin Lopate
Guitar teacher and performer in Longmont, Colorado, helping kids, adult beginners, and returning players feel comfortable making music.
How music found me
I started playing guitar when I was 11 years old. James Taylor, Carole King, Neil Young, and other singer-songwriters were my heroes.
I taught myself to play, then took lessons where I learned fingerpicking. I also studied music theory and musicianship at Oberlin.
I started playing guitar seriously again about 20 years ago and began teaching about 12 years ago.
Teaching with the whole person in mind
I have a BA in Psychology and an MA in Education, and I have worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
That background shapes the lesson room: patient, practical, encouraging, and built around the person learning.
